Programmatic Concept:
The Madison is a luxury, boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. The hotel is a reflection of the historical building it is placed within along with the quaint downtown Minneapolis neighborhood. The space features a lobby bar on the ground level of the building with a variety of different seating areas such as a lobby lounge with relaxed seating options best suited for gathering with friends to grab a drink. The work lounge and coffee bar are perfect for those on business trips looking to set up meetings with co-workers or just looking for a space to work independently. For guests looking to stay at The Madison, they offer a variety of different guest suite options to best suit individual needs. Whether you are looking for a short-term, long-term, or even just a day trip to the city, The Madison Hotel provides a true historical downtown Minneapolis experience like no other.
Design Concept:
The Madison Hotel is designed to keep public and private spaces separated to give hotel guests equal opportunity between their personal and public spaces. Keeping the public services on the ground floor allows for non-hotel guests to also enjoy the bar and lounge, but doesn't grant access to personal suites and overall gives guests more privacy and security.
The spaces feature a neutral color palette with muted accents that reflect the colors and tones from the Minneapolis skyline. Changes in flooring types and a variety of fabrics and textiles allow for diversity within the textural elements throughout the spaces. Different adjustable and dimmable lighting fixtures allow for guests to change lighting conditions based on personal needs. These spaces will make visitors feel welcomed and inspired by the city's historical architecture.
